Historic Wedding Venue in Upstate New York
Emily and Jake’s wedding took place at the Mansion Inn at Saratoga. This mansion is beautiful and historic and most importantly, it’s PURPLE! This venue was perfect for Emily because she is an avid lover of ghost hunting shows, Halloween, History and all things vintage and quirky. Emily and Jake met at a Halloween frat party in 2015 and the story of their beginning is truly one of my favorites.
Emily was dancing on a table dressed as pizza rat and the table collapsed because there were too many people on it. Jake, who I know you’re wondering what his costume was and when I tell you, you will think it’s as funny as I do if you love SNL. He was “dick in a box” which I linked here for your viewing pleasure. Anyways, Jake asked if Emily was okay after the table broke and as Emily says, “the rest is history”.
This mansion was built in 1866 as a gorgeous 26 room estate across from a paper bag mill, both owned by George West who is the inventor of the folded paper bag (fun fact). This unique mansion filled with antiques, now serves as one of the top wedding venues in Saratoga County.
Emily and Jake both got ready with their wedding party at the mansion with Emily on the top floor and Jake in the lower suite. The quirky mansion filled with eclectic and moody wallpaper served as a beautiful location for vibey wedding portraits. Outside of the mansion is where the ceremony took place. All of the way in the back of the house is a small wooded area where the ceremony was held. The site was beautiful and the aisle was filled with fall florals and pumpkins that didn’t even look real. In fact, I walked over and poked a couple to make sure and yep, they were real.
There are gorgeous gardens built like a maze from Alice in Wonderland right outside in the yard with beautifully maintained hedges as well as a gorgeous fountain. On this chilly October night, there was a large tent where the reception took place. After dinner, we moved to a barn-style building with beautiful bistro lights for music and dancing.
Emily and Jake had chosen The Erin Harkes Band to play live music at their reception because they had seen them previously play live. This live band was one for the books, full of life and fun, they moved from the stage space right into the crowd of friends and family to continue singing and playing music.
